Description:  The duodenum is the first 12 inches, approximately, of the small intestine leading from the pylorus of the stomach.  Pig Duodenal Substance is a dried and defatted product prepared from porcine (pork) duodenums.  It is available in powder form, obtained by utilizing one of two drying methods:  by tray drying under vacuum at a final product temperature of approximately 71 C, or by freeze drying.

Application & Preparation The intent is to provide an effective and affordable source of Secretin/Prosecretin and other intestinal hormones. It has been greatly helpful for many autistic children and some Crohn's disease cases as discussed on my Autism and Crohn's web Pages.

Briefly:

Autism: The focus is to address the digestive disorder common to a large fraction of Autistic children. The mother who has had the longest experience using it, approximately three years, found it quickly corrected her then 4-year-old son's painful digestive disorder, a great relief to him. Not only did the pain go away, but also his stools turned normal - indicating a transition from a large fraction of obviously undigested food to normal looking stools. He became more alert and more manageable (due to less abdominal pain). This all happened in the first couple of days of use. One might also conclude that this was due to his body now receiving nutrition that had been marginal up to then. From the beginning she has had to be creative at preparing it so that her son would eat it. Like most autistic children with an intestinal disorder, he was extremely finicky about what he would eat. Crohn's Disease: The simplest method used to date is to stir a heaping tablespoon full into juice (grape juice) and drink. It was used successfully by one person for addressing his specific form (cause) of Crohn's disease. He had already tried the other three treatments presented on my web page and they did not work for him. He thus decided to try the pig duodenum powder. As discussed on my crohn's web page linked below, he was 19 yrs-old and had been home-bound for eight years because of his disease.(Home schooling, etc.) Within one week after starting the pig duodenum powder he was no longer home-bound with almost no remaining symptoms of his Crohn's disease.
